1st Battalion (Cheshire) the Mercian Regiment

In 2007, after over 330 years of un-amalgamated service the 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment became the 1st Battalion (Cheshire) of the Mercian Regiment.  Click on the link to the official British Army site to se a brief history of the Regiment and see how the history and traditions of the Cheshires are incorporated into the new Regiment and the 1st Battalion.  One thing I have noticed from Video's of 1 Mercian on parade is the preparatory command is still always 22nd.  As in: 22nd, to the right wheel, quick march!
